The
Rainmakers - What we do
What we do not is easy to sum up; we invent, create and connect. We can do this across a diverse range of technologies and areas of business. It's not easy to pigeon-hole what we do, but what we do is unique.
Ben Way, Managing Director
As an innovations company we focus on three different things:
- Venture creation
- Start-up acceleration
- Corporate venturing
We like to get involved as early as possible the development of IP as this is where we add the most value but whether we are working on our ideas or other people's we intend to build a valuable brand, not simply launch a product.
Inventions are taken to market with the attitude that it is far more productive to create good products, even if the process is more arduous, than it is to try and convince people to buy into mediocrity or something they don't require.
Innovating successfully in completely different industries from on day to another requires a unique mindset. Our process works quickly and insightfully in media and technology sectors with strong ties to areas of social networking and environmental convergence as well as skunk works and patent creation. The company is rapidly able to adapt the way in which it operates to suit the industry and client and encourage the very talented people with whom we work to do the same.

We put a lot of energy into developing really interesting ideas. The
slightly crazier ones stay just as ideas, but we have shown many times
that we can grow the sustainable ones exceptionally quickly.
Charlie Lass, New Business
A company might bring us in to make use of our insight into a particular problem or we may be required to develop a totally new way of progressing in their chosen market, for example. Regardless of why we are involved, loyalty and respect are attributes we strive for in our dealings with anyone. We encourage businesses to also behave in this way and to realize that long term sustainable growth will come from having their customers respect and trust them.
